Cappiello, Absinthe & the Art of the French Poster. Created around 1900, this vintage French advertising poster promoted J. Édouard Pernot’s absinthe with a fashionable café scene of a woman sampling the drink as her companion looks on. The design reflects the colorful Parisian poster culture of the Art Nouveau and Belle Époque era.
As a graphic designer and lover of vintage art, I’ve personally color-corrected and restored this historic design for reproduction while preserving some of the original character and imperfections that give vintage advertising art its charm.
