Cappiello, Cordial Médoc & the Art of the French Poster. Created for G. A. Jourde of Bordeaux in the early 1900s, Cappiello’s Cordial Médoc poster turns a French liqueur advertisement into a joyful celebration of color and abundance. The exaggerated grapes, vivid contrast and brilliant yellow figure create the instantly memorable image that helped make Cappiello a master of vintage French advertising.

Created during the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau era, the poster also points toward the bolder, more graphic language that would shape modern advertising and poster design.

As a graphic designer and lover of vintage art, I’ve personally color-corrected and restored this historic design for reproduction while preserving some of the original character and imperfections that give vintage advertising art its charm.
