New York Municipal Airports WPA Poster – Vintage Aviation Art
$94
Take off for 1930s New York with this vintage Municipal Airports WPA poster. A retro airplane soars overhead while a seaplane skims across the water below, capturing an era when aviation still felt thrillingly new.
I carefully restored the historic artwork for gallery-wrapped canvas while preserving some of the small imperfections that give the original design its character.

When New York Took to the Skies. Created through the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project in 1936 or 1937, the original “City of New York Municipal Airports” poster promoted Floyd Bennett Field, North Beach, and the East River seaplane bases at Wall Street and 31st Street. Its streamlined aircraft and bold graphic design capture the optimism surrounding aviation in New York during the 1930s.
